The events just keep on coming…
November 1st, 2010Scarves unpacked, check, gloves found, check, winter coats ready, check, heating on, check. The winter check list has been put into action but we’re still enjoying some lovely sunny, crisp and fresh days.
We’ve now finished our experiment in the Dedham Vale Food project challenge to eat only food from within 30 miles of Manningtree for 30 days. It proved tough but certainly makes you aware of what is and isn’t available in the area. The Transition Stour Valley group are interested to hear your experiences so why not log on to http://www.transitionvalley.com/ and let them know. I wonder what a 30:30 Halloween would have been like. Back to the more traditional carved turnip perhaps?
We had a great Halloween weekend with the Stour Community First children’s activity tea on Saturday and then our own pumpkin carving and trick or treating on Sunday. In fact we had many offers to take Dillon the dog off our hands instead of the usual chocolate treats! No sooner is Halloween out the way though and we’re straight into Guy Fawkes celebrations. We’ve seen details of firework displays dotted around the area including Brantham and Little Bromley but no decision as to which one we’re going to head to have been made at the moment. Whatever plans you have we hope you’ll be sensible, keep safe and most of all have fun.
It seems that once the celebrating gets started it just keeps on going as on the 26th November the Manningtree Business Chamber are launching their Christmas celebration. Surely there can’t be many other places in the country that are having Father Christmas arrive on a boat! The full details will be popping up around town on posters but for now there is a brief outline on http://www.visit-manningtree.co.uk/, from what we’ve heard so far it sounds fantastic.
Now we’ve officially had to acknowledge Christmas isn’t far away, added to the fact we’re writing this just after the school half term it’s probably best we conserve our energy and go and lay down in a darkened room. Enjoy all of the approaching events and hopefully we’ll see you at many of them. Remember there’s always lots more listed on the web site, so until next time, take care for now.
